Since the start of the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC), 64%* of reports have been about the alleged abuse of women. Evidence shows that women often face higher risks—women with disability are significantly more likely to experience intimate partner violence than those without disability**. Alarmingly, up to 80% of assaults against older women reported to police each year are committed by someone they know***.
The ADC, in collaboration with the NSW Women's Safety Commissioner have developed training modules and resources aimed at upskilling support networks and raising awareness and understanding to better prevent, identify and respond to domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) of older women and women with disability.
We encourage you to complete this training, access the resources and share it with your networks.
